China Glaze - Zombie Zest!!!!!!!! TOP TEN FAVORITE!

I feel that I need to make a top ten favorite polish list... I seriously am becoming particular with what I like in my polish and this is definitely a MAJOR favorite, maybe even top five?!

One of the late China Glaze Halloween collections released Zombie Zest, a green/yellow flakie glitter explosion of gorgeous! It is amazing to apply... so smooth (and removes easy too like a flakie not familiar to a glitter) and is pretty sheer almost jelly dark green/yellow base so I ended up with 3 coats and on my thumbs and middle fingers I think 4 coats. If I was to put any base color beneath, I guess I would go with my Ulta Professional - Green With Envy (my #2 favorite polish!)... maybe.

Since I have a serious borderline unhealthy obsession with flakies, this has become a serious treat for me and I think I may need a back-up bottle!

Definitely looks like something off Zombie flesh! Yuck! I love it!!!! I LOVE ZOMBIES and I LOVE HALLOWEEN! These manis are becoming so fun to find great colors to match up... I am feeling some inspiration to do some nail art!!?

Violet's first Halloween inspired franken trio!!!

Tomorrow is Trick-or-Treat night in my neighborhood, so I whipped up some fantastic frankens themed around my daughter Violet's very first Halloween! These frankens turned out EXACTLY as I had hoped they would and I am still wearing 2 of them right now.

The Frankens:
Violet's First Pumpkin - Dusty/burnt orange with scattered yellow/green and orange flakies, rainbow and holo glitter bits, and scattered rainbow hairy/bar glitter!
Violet's Little Bat Costume - Rich plum with gold shimmer!
Violet's Magic Potion - (THIS IS MY FAVORITE!!!) a perfect layering polish... blue, silver, and pink hex glitter, tiny flecks of holo bits and flecks of silver/glass fleck bits, and last but not least the superfine silver glitter

[[[In the sneak peak post the bottle of Violet's Little Bat Costume looks like it has holo hex in it but it does not that was just stuck to the bottle from a previous polish haha]]]

Here they are! Hopefully Santa will bring me a new camera for Christmas these pictures do NO justice... especially not of Violet's Magic Potion....

Sephora OPI -- Sin-cerely Violet (!!!!)

I have been waiting to use Sephora OPI -- Sin-cerely Violet polish to do a special Violet dedicated post, not just because of the name, but because it was a gift from my polish BFF Traci the day my Violet was born! So I figured why not dedicate this, no only to my Violet baby, but to my new niece Gabrielle! She was just born two days ago, congratulations Julie!!!

Sin-cerely Violet is a very pale purple that in dull light almost is a pinkle (love that word!) with a pearly shimmery finish. This polish went on so easily it was perfect to work with!

Well this is the last time I delete my FACEBOOK! Actually I am joking I did find this through the new update on the OPI facebook app... if you are an iPhone user and do not have this app PLEASE download it! The swatch wheel is very off but is a great way to keep track of the OPI facebook page updates feed, new collections, popular collections and save your favorites or ones you are lemming!

I love me some Nicki Minaj I'm pretty over the whole shatter craze but I still want that purple shatter, the color looks amazing from the pictures... hopefully it will be amazing on the nail too! The holo bar glitter looks gorgeous, I LOVE BAR GLITTER! Thinking this collection is pretty amazing... lemmings already!

The Nicki Minaj collection consists of a deep shimmering purple Shatter called "Super Bass" and these five Nicki-inspired colors: "Metallic 4 Life", "Save Me", "Fly", "Did It On 'Em" and the bubble gum hue "Pink Friday". According to their facebook post.

Wet N' Wild Fantasy Makers - Vamp Red

Hello sweets! Sorry for not posting yesterday! I am back and ready for my favorite of the halloween manis so far!

I just received some exciting nail mail from my dear Erika from fb! She found me a second bottle of Vamp Red from the Wet N' Wild Fantasy Makers set! It is a red/black gorgeous halloween/fall color!

I started w my old faithful, okay okay my favorite, OPI natural nail base coat! I added 3 layers of Vamp Red but it is only visable red under flash and at the nail near the cuticle. Even in bright sunlight I JUST saw it! I have owned this for a while never using it to know how awesome it was even if it took effort for the red to show through!

As usual i like to add! I layered some Sinful Colors -Deep Red Ocean on my ring fingers to show off some chunky flakie goodness!

I topped this off with INM Out The Door top coat!

GUEST POST! The one with...OPI- Bullish & Heart of Gold

I got home to a treat in my box yesterday! Destany from Confessions of a Sarcastic Mom blog has done a Violet inspired mani for my baby girl!

Hello out there, readers of my Lovely Cas' blog! I bring you a wonderful
polish concoction...as it is a tribute to the cute, the dashing baby Violet!

Previous to the little sweetie's birth, there was a contest to guess her
birth date and weight/length. I was the lucky - I MEAN AWESOME - person
who correctly predicted baby Violet's weight and length. Or rather, I
was closest! I was allowed two polish choices from our friend Trace
Face's blogsale ...and I chose two OPIs: Bullish on OPI and Heart of
Gold. I thought these two lovely ladies would be perfect layered
together, and I was right!

This combination of these two polishes - and I do intend to wear this
combination again, as it is beautiful - shall henceforth be known as The
Violet Mani! Bullish on OPI is a gorgeous reddish brownish orange. Just
my color! I have many similar to the color in my collection, and I love
them all. Topped with the shimmery goodness of Heart of Gold, this is
amazing!

Isn't is beautiful? Now, everytime I wear either of these polishes, I
think of baby Violet and her amazing Mama! Both of whom I am proud to
have gotten to know via polish groups on Facebook.

THANK YOU SO MUCH DES! I love you and your blog, I am so lucky to have met you and I sincerely appreciate you doing this for Violet. I hope someday she loves polish as much as we do! This mani also falls under my fall themed manis I will be doing until the holidays are over! Thank you again Des, this was so amazingly sweet <3 Pin It

The cuticle trick according to Cameron...

So I have little cuticle trick my friend passed on to me! My wonderful friend cameron has the most amazing idea he got from his mom... Go Dona!

Apparently when he was growing up his mother would put the olive oil in their hair, on their lips, and their cuticles. Even to this day his mom tells him to do it and even checks! Too funny well long story short he forgot for a while and the cuticles got junky, so he took olive oil to his cuticles and stuck band-aids over them for an hour and it helped better than any cuticle oil i have used!

Has anyone else tried this or heard of it? Will you try?! <3 Pin It

Halloween Mani #1 !!!

JUST REALIZED MY BLOGGER APP MAKES MY PICTURES I POST EXTREMELY TINY! I WILL RE-EDIT THIS LATER TODAY! I APOLOGIZE IMMENSELY FOR THIS (I am still getting used to posting with the app when I am away from home heh heh)

Hello lovelies thought I would share my first of mani halloween manis up until the holiday!!!

I decided on Essence Colour & Go in Wake Up! In the bottle it looks like a more orange than red... Orangey-red ha! On the nail it is definitely an orange with slight red shade in minimal or junky lighting. Overall its a great cream for fall. Maybe it was just my bottle but the formula was VERY thick and stringy!

I added a little OPI lacquer thinner and it was good to go! So of course I used my favorite base coat, OPI Natural Nail base, and then for Wake Up...
after the thinner I only needed 2 coats since I had some streaking with just 1 coat.

This mani was too simple so I added an accent nail on each hand (ring fingers) of my favorite Halloween polish, China Glaze in Zombie Zest (Halloween 2010 collex), ironically from my least favorite brand. I actually just did the ZZ over the orange it looks almost duochrome in certain light because of the layer combination!
this is with Matte-ly In Love Hard Candy top coat! I put a top coat of Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine top coat over the Zombie Zest so it stood out nice and shiny in all its glittery goodness!

Both polish are 3 free and the essence wake up is 4 free! The matte coat is

Thought I would share how cute my baby girl, Violet, looks in the polish aisle at the grocery! Future polish aholic... My husband is soooo not thrilled :)

Finished mani WITHOUT matte top coat.
<---These are the nasty pre-thinner shots--->
This is the re-application of the thinned Essence. Nice and clean now.

Sinful Colors - Mercury Rising (FALL HAS FALLEN!)

I want to take a short chunk of this post and address an issue. This has made me feel completely disgusted by other bloggers. I am no longer participating in a "30 day challenge" (not because of the originator of the challenge) because people felt the need to make it negative because they are bitter or jealous or who knows what fuels their fire! I have seen some of these "big bloggers" and some not so big but blogs (I had once followed religiously and even found inspiration in their blogs to create my own and post my passion for polish) are getting very nasty indirectly and directly to others and VERBAL AND WRITTEN ABUSE IS NEVER NEVER NEVER NECESSARY!!!

This MOST DEFINITELY is a form of bullying... so what if some of us are teenagers, young adults, adults, seniors... bullying exists and unfortunately is ruining a lot of the passion and fun about sharing polish on our blogs and hurting a lot of people for no fault other than that of the bullies.

I'm just... so disgusted right now.

On a more beautiful and positive note... my favorite time is here, Autumn/Fall!!!! I have found the perfect color in my opinion to express my love of Fall! It is Sinful Colors Mercury Rising! Easy application with this formula no bubbles no streaking... it was not bad at all! However it is a drugstore brand and as always with those I find I had tip wear and chipping before I even got the top coat on. So if I could find this exact color in a much more decent brand, I would be 20x happier!

On to the lovely....
This picture doesn't show off the beautiful more red copper
but shows of the gorgeous coffee brown base color! This is in artificial direct light.

This blurred picture shows off the red/copper from the fine shimmers... ahhhh I love it!

Here is that deep brown again!!! yeeeeep!

Part 3 of 3 Glitter by Revlon - Facets of Fuschia w/ OPI Suzi Skis in The Pyranees

Here is the third and final post on the Glitter by Revlon posts! I have a love for layering polishes so these were a LOT LOT LOT of fun for me and I had absolutely no problems with matching them with their perfect base. The only one I wish I had a better base for is the Facets of Fuschia.

Facets of Fuschia is small fuschia and large hex glitter in a black jelly base. I chose OPI Suzi Skis in The Pyranees for the base because it is as close to a black jelly finish as I could get (how do i not have a black jelly!?!?!?! these are my favorite!) but I did one single coat of it and topped it off with 2 coats of Facets of Fuschia. It turned out better than I had thought.

Base coat is OPI Natural Nail and top coat is Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine (great for hungry glitters!)

Unfortunately for this post my camera doesn't want to work with me so I had to use my husband's junky camera and boy does it show....

I also decided to use a little background with these... GO PITTSBURGH STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Part 1 of 3 Glitter by Revlon - Starry Pink with OPI Steady As She Rose *Breast Cancer Awareness Month*

Here is my 2nd post of the 3 Revlon glitters. Number 2 I decided to do next in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I actually wanted to get this post up in time for tomorrow, as tomorrow the 6th is my late grandmother's birthday, and we lost her to breast cancer in 2001.

So in honor of anyone affected by breast cancer and my Memmy... I am participating in Pink Wednesday! Here is Starry Pink.

Natural outdoor light - no flash
(L-R: OPI Steady As She Rose, Revlon Starry Pink)
Artificial Light - no flash
(L-R: OPI Steady As She Rose, Revlon Starry Pink)

I look absolutely awful with pale pinks on my nails but I am slowly becoming a lover of them. I really liked this one except the fact that I would have to layer it over a white or an exact match of pink/white base... I hate having to layer over my white when I use those for my beloved Jelly polish base coat! So like with my perfect match of Revlon Blue Mosaic and Sinful Colors Gorgeous, I was DETERMINED to find a matching pink base for Starry Pink!

Aaaaaaaand....... I found it! The perfect match is OPI Steady As She Rose! It is practically identical to the pink base even though Steady As She Rose is a cream and pretty opaque it matches as if Starry Pink was applied on it's own with 3-4 coats. I did this on every other nail to show that it is a great match! PERFECT like my Violet baby <3!!!

OPI Steady As She Rose was not only a perfect color match for the Revlon Starry Pink, but it can be a bit streaky when applied and for solid coverage you would need at least 2 coats. For the base of Starry Pink I just used one coat since bald spots and streaking did not matter with the layering. I did end up using 2 coats of Starry Pink over the single Steady As She Rose coat. And like I said for the lone Starry Night nails I used 3 coats and some nails 4. Easy application and no sparse glitter problems for the Starry Night. With me no matter what top coat I use (I used Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine Top Coat) I always get chipping with Revlon polish. Regardless of that I love the colors, glitters, and don't usually keep a mani on for too long so the chipping is no serious deal with me.
