Dr.'s REMEDY 2011 Summer Collection!!!

Well what better way to start my "end the summer fun" than with a recap of my favorite summer collection! It comes from Dr.'s REMEDY which is a line of doctor-inspired cosmetics. They are 100% healthy and free of harsh toxins to promote healthier and stronger nails! All of their polish is enriched with naturally occurring ingredients like tea tree oil, garlic bulb extract, vitamins C and E, and wheat protein. I happened to have the Dr.'s REMEDY nail polish remover in my collection along with Vigor (a violet purple) which I purchased before I received this 2011 HOT HOT HOT Summer Collection. The remover is an enriched acetone free remover and is very safe as well. I am so grateful to have a product like this while pregnant and not have to worry about any harsh chemicals. From how much I liked the polish and remover I plan on ordering their base and top coat soon!

For these swatches I used no base coat and no top coat to test with any staining and how they apply to natural nail and how they finish.

HOT HOT HOT Summer 2011 Collection
(L-R) Nurture, Lovely, Bold, Tranquil, and Glee
.5 FL Oz bottles w/ square cap which is kind of bulky and a little hard to handle but the brush is very easy to work with and applies the polish fluid and smooth. I had no streaking at all even with the creams.

First polish I swatched from this collection is LOVELY lavender, described as a pale purple with matte depth and charm.
I would have to agree this really is a gorgeous lavender color has a dense light purple with blue tone to it. I found this polish to apply pretty thick like a lot of creams do and with just 2 coats I grabbed a few bald spots but after the 3rd clean cover coat it fixed that nicely. I left my nails/cuticles unclean to show how it can kind of gunk up the cuticle area so try to avoid that with how thick this specific color applies.

The other cream in this collection is NURTURE nude pink, described as a delicate, damsel-in-distress barely-there beautiful. I have to come out and say I DO NOT look well with pale pinks but I absolutely love them! They look so natural and this creamy nude pink is exactly that... gorgeous and delicate and natural. I can see myself using this for my daughter when she is old enough for polish wear!

Nurture is my favorite of this whole collection, if you want a very subtle look but to still not have naked nails... this is where it's at! I will definitely be wearing this one over and over! It applied very smooth and was not too thick like most creams and the LOVELY in this collection. 3 coats for this just to make it even.

Next up is GLEE gold, described as a shimmer-infused coin of perfection. This was VERY shimmery and a very gorgeous pale gold. If you are looking for a simple gold to shine in the sun... this is perfect for that beachy summer look.. very sand-toned gold!
Glee was very easy to apply. It went on smooth and had a very sheer application so 3 coats were definitely needed. With each coat the shimmer gets more defined and is very sandy gold more so than an orange gold which I think really reflects the idea of this collection.

My favorite shimmer in this collection hands down... TRANQUIL Tangerine, described as a bold, but wonderfully-wearable, slice of juicy delight. I completely agree! This is for sure a tangerine orange and is very bold I only had one nail swatched and my husband was like "what color is that!!?" it is a for sure stand out color. Very shimmery and very fluid looking.

This was probably the easiest of all to apply. It's application was very similar to Glee's, however just not as sheer. This one I only needed 2 coats but I applied 3 to my thumb and little finger in the above picture just to see if it really made a difference, I don't notice it. This is a very developing shimmer which is wonderful, and by developing i mean this went from sheer to complete color in 2 coats... that is awesome!

Last color in this collection is BOLD baby Blue, described as an aqua-meets-turquoise take on every boy's favorite color. I found it to be a very bright (yes bold!) blue with a noticable silver shimmer to it. I love silvers and blues together! If you are looking to stand out this is a must color, the shimmer will catch the eye just as well as the bold blue color that is very intense! I would have to say this is more aqua than turquoise.
This wasn't very sheer at first application with this one I only used 2 coats as well. For a shimmer it was actually pretty thick like LOVELY in this collection. It was most definitely a shimmer... I couldn't imagine this without the silver shimmer, it for sure makes it stand out even more than the gorgeous blue that it is with!

This collection really embodies the idea of summer and when I see each color I can really picture something from this summer that I could relate it to. With the exception of LOVELY I really liked how these all applied and finished.

SinfulColors - Daddys Girl (how appropriate!)

Still no baby Violet here yet! She is taking her time to cook that is for sure! My husband and I (as well as our family and friends) are getting so anxious to meet her and celebrate her being born! This post today I had to do for her seeing as how the color is relative to her name and how I think she will be!

While running errands with my husband we were about to pass a Walgreens and I happened to mention they were having a sale on SinfulColors polish for only $0.99!!! He pulled right into the parking lot of Walgreens and said alright let's get you your polish! This still has me in shock because my husband is VERY much anti-nail polish, he thinks it is pointless and that I have too much of it. So I was obviously not going to argue this and I was getting me some polish! The store we went to had a small rack of SinfulColors and a lot of them I had already in my collection. One of the polish colors he helped me pick out was called Daddy's Girl, and he said without hesitation "GET THIS ONE!". He is too cute and I love him... I know our daughter will be a daddy's girl!

SinfulColors - Daddy's Girl is a dark purple violet with different shaped fine glitters in it that are at some angles dark purple and light purple. It applies somewhat sheer so I used 3 coats on all my nails.

Started with OPI Base Coat...

For a cheaper brand of polish I really like SinfulColors it lasts and has a lot of unique stand out colors!

I topped this polish off with Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine top coat!

Essence - Date With The Night

Happy Friday everyone! Violet is still not born yet... I feel like she never wants to come out! I hope everyone's week has been a breeze and if your week is not over I hope it breezes by!

Here in my part of Pennsylvania there is a 10 day festival that goes on the end of every summer called Musikfest, and more recently there is a new section added to it in a very historical part of the city it is held in. The area is called the Steel Stacks in the south side of Bethlehem, PA...  and is in the setting where the historic (and no longer running of course) Bethlehem PA Steel Company is at. The way this place looks and the "steel" theme is very beautiful and the way they light up the stacks and steel towers is breathtaking so I figured since I was going to attend the 'fest tonight and especially the Steel Stacks I was going to find a color to paint and represent this!

The perfect color I found was Essence - Date With The Night. This is a very fluid steel almost pewter color. I am absolutely in love with this color! I am not one to leave just a single color on my nails, I usually have to embellish with glitter or designs of some sort... not with this one!

Started out with OPI Base Coat....

At first glance I thought this color was a brownish/grey but i swatched it and in the proper light it looked like a dark steel grey and in bright light it was definitely that steel/pewter color. It has a bit of shimmer to it which really makes it look like liquid metal... I absolutely love it!

PLEASE pardon my cuticles they are NOT cooperating and are looking quite the mess :(

Jumped on my porch to get some indirect sunlight for these 3 above.
I closed my poor middle finger in the door today so I got a sweet dent in my nail that would not file out! I apologize for this in the swatch!

These 2 above are direct sunlight... you can see the shimmer here! All but the last one are polish only and no top coat. This last one here is with INM Out The Door top coat!

ZOYA - Apple

Lately here in my part of Pennsylvania we haven't really been getting much sun so I needed some sunshine... on my nails! When I got the polish on I walked outside and there was sunlight!!! coincidence?! maybe! haha

During the Zoya earth day promo I picked up the Zoya sunshine collection and ended up giving my Apple to my cousin because she loved it so much... I regretted it insanely since it is now one of my favorites! Thanks to miss Rachel from Cherry Glam Girl I gots me a new bottle!!!! <3  Apple just so happens to be my favorite from the sunshine collection!

Zoya Apple is a bright foil finish/shimmery granny smith apple (go figure) green with some yellow shimmer and tones. It is a beauty in dull light and a jaw dropper in sunlight.

Started off with some Zoya anchor base coat.

I really like how this polish applies the brush is great and easy to work with and its not very sheer. I did thin even coats about 2 or 3... I think it is just my habit to do 3 at leas for clean coverage but you could get away easily with 2. No bubbles with this one which is nice, I have a bubble problem with some Zoyas but a lot of their foil/shimmery types... not so much.

Here is sunlight (direct) to show off the beautiful green foil/shimmer with the yellow tones

Here is ( not direct ) sunlight for the green foil/shimmer... even though you can still see the yellow tone in the shine.

Finished this off with Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine top coat!

A merry Bieber mani! Prized Possession Purple w/ Nubar 2010

Hello lovely polish universe! 2 and a half weeks until baby's due date! I have been feeling quite junky lately and what makes me feel better is that I decided on my baby mani that I want on my fingers when Violet comes into this world! I call it my "merry Bieber mani" haha. Hands down my most favorite OPI polish is Merry Midnight.. the wine color with the beautiful bronze flecked flakies makes me swoon! Unfortunately for me it is not baby safe (not 4 free) since my obstetrician said that formaldehyde resin (which the polish has as a hardener) can cause allergic reactions and I shouldn't risk if the baby may have an allergy to it. So... I decided to go with a more purple than wine (mostly since I don't really have a great wine colored polish, if you know of a plain wine colored 4 free please let me know!) version of Merry Midnight! This is all thanks to one of my fellow polish loves LAURIE from my FB polish group and her gorgeous franken with Nubar 2010!

I started off with OPI base coat and moved on to my base color... a dark slightly shimmery purple from the Nicole OPI Justin Bieber collection, Prized Possession Purple. I absolutely love this color and it is one of the few solid shades that I don't mind wearing with no embellishment. It has the short wide brush for easy application, applies evenly, and dries decently quick. Out of habit I always like to wait in between layers or put my hands in front of cold air since that dries polish faster than hot air (blowing on your nails actually can make a polish tacky and not dry as fast).

I used 3 coats to get a nice dark opaque nail cover.

I chose Nubar 2010, a gorgeous white/bronze flaky topper as my embellishment. This flaky is my absolute favorite and it happens to be from one of my absolute favorite polish brands Nubar, they are baby safe, toxin free, and vegan friendly. The bunny on the back supports their no animal cruelty policy <3

Nubar 2010 is a very fluid and extremely simple to apply flaky topper. Most flakies tend to be chunky or thick and this is definitely not that... which I LOVE and I would absolutely recommend.

Like I said this is not intended to be any type of dupe/replication of OPI Merry Midnight... this is just my baby safe and more purple than wine colored version of it since I cannot have the original until I have no more baby safe worries... which is a long way off!

I love the hue that comes out from the Nubar 2010... I must say I am in love.

I would have topped off with Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine top coat but I had my INM Out The Door top coat already in front of me and I figured why not lets see how it looks! Topped it off nice and clear and shiny. Pin It
