Peafowl, yeahhhh! OPI Turqouise shatter & SH hd Resolution

So I wanted to post much earlier than this, and with my baby shower mani! It was so much fun to do and definitely was a hit at my shower! However I ran out of batteries to put in my camera and my XBOX controller was not giving them up... and with my iPhone the purple of the Essie Lilacism and french tip OPI Planks A Lot were showing up blue!

But then I received some nail mail from a wonderful woman in my Facebook group, Nail Polish-aholics Anonymous (Miss Heather!!) sent me a bottle of OPI Turquoise shatter :) Let me just tell you I couldn't have taken of that baby shower mani soon enough to get this on! The bright vibrant color is so breathtaking I cannot even stop looking at the bottle let alone this color on my nails! I couldn't wait for batteries in the camera or even sunlight, to show you pictures! It totally reminds me of the turquoise in a peacock feather train... so here's my peafowl mani!

Started off with OPI Base Coat, of course.
Then a nice even coat of Sally Hansen HD Nail Color in #13 Resolution, this green is so bright and pretty and reminded me of the bright greens in a peacock so what better color as the base?! This polish, like most SH nail colors, dries pretty quick for me but I waited a minute or 2 before applying a second coat just to clear up any missing spots. This is one of my favorite nail colors to use and is so easy to apply not bubbling or streaking, and the brush is nice and wide.

I am going to apologize mid-post, my paint job is a bit messy with this one and I should have cleaned up my nails before I took and posted pictures! I was so anxious to do this turquoise shatter I was just not caring haha.

Waited about 5 minutes before I did my coat of OPI Turquoise shatter, when I apply the OPI shatters I don't really wipe much off of the brush i leave a nice amount on there to apply even for the smaller nails and I always apply side to side and apply quickly instead of in the middle that way if I need to quickly dip and get more polish i can continue on the nail without having to jump from one side of the nail to the other and risk an ugly shatter pattern. So far it has worked great! The OPI shatters apply really smooth and don't really clump for me so I am definitely a repeat user and big fan of them. Here's how mani looked without and with my favorite top coat, INM Out The Door...

Once again, I took these with my iPhone so they do absolutely NO justice to the beautiful color of the OPI Turquoise shatter...

"Distressed mani" ChG Cheers To You, Ulta Prof Green With Envy

So I was wandering around the interweb and stumbled upon a new mani to try out. Found a couple of these with different colors and names. Its a smudging technique basically which is super easy, looks neat, but makes your pointer fingers a little messy but easy to clean up with a little remover. It gives a fabulous distressed look. A couple posts ago I talked about how much I was/am in LOVE with the Green With Envy from Ulta Professional so I used it in this one too (how could i not?!) and it turned out beautiful!

I started off my "distressed mani" with my OPI base coat which I love right now because it dries so fast.
Next I did a single light coat of the Green With Envy (Ulta Professional polish), not really caring if it was even or missing spots. I went with this dark color because of the next color I used which is Cheers To You (China Glaze)...
Cheers To You, is a fantastic... and I mean FANTASTIC silver polish. As far as metallic polishes go, this and Orlys Glitz & Glamour are my favorites. Cheers To You is a very opaque solid silver metal that is very very easy to apply and extremely even and clean looking when applied, not to mention it dries pretty quick too.

When I applied the Cheers To You, I did not cover the base color, I made sure to leave the sides and the bottom of the nail uncovered but painted up to the top....

Once my Cheers To You dried (which like i said was no more than a minute or 2), it was time to apply my last layer. The last layer is the same as your base color, this one you will want to make even and not too thick but enough that it covers the whole nail evenly.
It is best when doing the smudging to do one nail at a time so the polish doesn't dry. I had that problem with one nail (in the pic it was my middle finger, go figure, because i figured hey I will try and do that and another and smudge those two... don't.) After you apply the even covering coat I took my finger and gently smudged and rubbed different spots of the nail to take off some polish so that it looked "distressed" and showed the Cheers To You underneath. Since the Green With Envy dries a little slow, like all of my Ulta polishes do, it was a great polish to use for this.

Topped off my mani with 2 coats of INM Out The Door fast dry top coat, as usual (because it is baby safe!).

Savina Fairy Dust & Ulta Prof Green With Envy - PIC HEAVY!

So on my most recent polish adventure I found a gorgeous very dark emerald green polish by Ulta Professional called Green With Envy. It looks almost black unless you look real close to the nail or if you are in some direct sunlight. I am in love with this polish that I have used it for 4 days now instead of my usual 1 or 2 hah :) I am hoping I can find another bottle of this, I'm not sure I will though this one I found was in the clearance section, but you never know! Here's how it looks:
I think this one shows the emerald color best.
This is after 3 days wear, no chipping! I also found it to have little tip wear as well, which I get a lot of because I type for 8 hours a day at work. This polish is awesome.

So on that same trip I also picked up a great holo glitter (that doesn't necessarily need to be done with layering but I like holos over a dark color) by the brand Savina, called Fairy Dust. The bottles look a lot like China Glaze but I think this brand is a bit thicker than ChG. I started with one coat and decided to go with a second just to make sure I got it completely over the base color. I AM IN LOVE! This was a nice fine holo glitter so easy to apply, but like i said, a little thick so a coat is pretty much a brush worth depending on nail length of course. I also did a test to see how easy it is to remove and even with cheap nail remover it is pretty good but I like to use OPI Expert Touch nail wipes which are a godsend let me tell you! I have to use non-acetone polish since I am pregnant, so I have been using Sally Beauty's brand Beauty Secrets non acetone polish remover. I then covered the polish up with 2 coats of my favorite Top Coat INM Out The Door.
Blurred for holo bits goodness as my friend Traci would say
